Temporary Lodging: For travelers who are on a temporary basis, temporary lodging plays an important role, especially for those who would like to explore or discover a new culture or travel to another country. There are many kinds of hotels available to suit the needs and the budgets of transient travelers. These hotels offer various kinds of amenities and services to their guests and also offer self-quarantine or non-essential travel. Non-essential travel refers to lodgings that are not hotels, motels, hostels that provide more than basic hospitality. These lodging offer basic facilities and hospitality to travelers such as air conditioning, heated swimming pool, health and beauty centers, laundry services, reception desks, telephone, cable television, etc.
When travelers are going to other locations or are relocating to a new city, they are advised to seek information from the local travel advisory or self-quarantine station about what is required of them while they are away. This information usually includes advising them about where to stay and the best routes to take during their traveling period. Most self-quarantine stations or travel advisory posts will ask travelers a series of questions regarding their personal situation, health history and personal habits while they are traveling. Based on this information, the doctor or the local medical examiner will issue a travel advisory to the community and notify travelers of certain precautions to be taken while they are traveling to and from the destination. It is wise to inquire from local travel advisory offices first, before you embark on your trip about what specific information they will be sharing with you.
In some cases, if a traveler has an increased risk of contracting an illness while visiting a destination, they may be asked to undergo special testing at the destination or may be restricted to staying at a specific hotel site for a limited period of time. These tests may include virus screening, stool analysis, blood sampling, stool and urinary samples and x-ray testing. If a traveler is traveling to an area that is known to have an increased risk of illness or disease, they may be asked to use specific facilities and do specific things while at the destination. Usually, if a tourist shows an elevated risk of disease, they will be asked to do an assessment in the medical clinic or a designated destination.
An adjacent affected traveler who has had one or more close contact with an infected person, must also be quarantined until their period of isolation expires. Anyone traveling to an area that is less than twenty-four (24) hours away from an affected individual or who has had direct contact with an infected person, must be concerned with being contagious during that period of time. These people should be aware that if they do become contagious they may not be able to spread their illness to another person. This is because their body will need to be adjusting from the initial exposure to the virus in order to sustain the appropriate immune system function. A person who is aware of their period of quarantine and is not contagious while traveling will have a higher level of protection when they are near an infected person. Those who are not aware of their period of quarantine and who become contagious can be susceptible to spreading their illness.
Amber Alerts are issued for travelers in the United States and is not printed electronically. This is done in compliance with the Department of State’s requirement for printing Amber Alerts on all American passports. This requirement was put in place so that those traveling to dangerous areas could be identified if their passports were stolen. The Department of State does encourage travelers to seek out the information they need regarding Amber Alerts through their local Department of Public Health website. Individuals traveling to any high-risk destination are encouraged to review their upcoming itinerary and to consider whether they should notify the proper authorities if they arrive in a foreign country where Amber Alerts have been activated.
